Applications Now Open for the Andrew Fairlie Scholarship 2024!

The Master Chefs of Great Britain is delighted to announce that applications are now open for the prestigious 2024 Andrew Fairlie Scholarship. This scholarship offers an exceptional opportunity for ambitious chefs in Scotland to take their culinary skills to new heights.

Launched in 2019 by the late Andrew Fairlie, this esteemed scholarship honours the legacy of one of Scotland’s most celebrated chefs. Supported by HIT Scotland, Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, Perth College UHI, and The Gleneagles Hotel, the scholarship is designed to provide the next generation of culinary talent with unparalleled learning experiences.

A Life-Changing Opportunity

The Andrew Fairlie Scholarship is more than just an accolade — it’s a life-changing opportunity that offers a wealth of experiences to help shape the careers of rising chefs. The winner of the 2024 scholarship will have the chance to:

  • Gain hands-on experience at the two Michelin-starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles

  • Undertake a stage at the three Michelin-starred Core by Clare Smyth in London

  • Embark on a two-day educational trip to France with Grande Cuisine

These experiences are spread over two years, allowing the scholarship recipient to fully immerse themselves in the world of fine dining and build a solid foundation for their future career.

Judged by the Best

The 2024 competition will be judged by an all-star panel of the country’s finest chefs, including Stephen McLaughlin, Tom Kerridge, Sat Bains, and Gary Maclean. Their expertise and keen eye for talent ensure that only the most deserving candidate will be awarded this once-in-a-lifetime scholarship.

How to Apply

Applicants are invited to showcase their culinary creativity and expertise by designing an autumnal sharing dish for four people, featuring a short saddle of Scotch lamb. Those selected for the finals will be asked to recreate their dish in real-time for the judges, along with other culinary challenges revealed on the day.
